Preseason NFL Primer

While some will be keeping an eye on the Olympics (see Olympic betting line), most American sports bettors will be focused on the NFL preseason odds. Here is a look at Friday night's NFL card from a standpoint of NFL handicappers.

Eagles-Steelers

The Eagles will be fighting the distraction of Shawn Andrews, their All-Pro lineman who has missed training camp because of depression. Pittsburgh now says starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger may play after all but will get limited action, likely just one series. Experienced veteran Charlie Batch will then take over.

Players ruled out for Pittsburgh include NT Casey Hampton and SS Troy Polamalu. There are reports that Eagles starters will play 1.5 quarters, second stringers a quarter and a half and third stringers in the fourth.

Seattle-Vikings

Seattle will be short-handed on the offensive line. Backup Steve Vallos starts at guard and Pro Bowl LT Walter Jones will be limited and may not play at all. He is coming of shoulder surgery.

49ers-Raiders

Believe it or not, Oakland's starting positions are pretty solidified. For those who love QB battles, the 49ers have one. Alex Smith and Shaun Hill are the two top contenders. If the game comes down to kicking, note that Oakland will be without their top kicker Sebastian Janikowski.

Oakland's WR have been terrible in camp and the offensive line a work in progress. Betcha by golly wow. The top NFL betting service is rolling along at, ho hum, 80 percent. Tonight we have two NFL sides: a Wise Guy and Major. MLB is coming. Click now to purchase
