Mark Ingram Likely 2009 Heisman Says Sportsbook Odds

The sportsbooks say that Archie Griffin is safe to remain the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner. However the ESPN Experts poll sheds doubt on whether the favorite is the correct sports pick.

Alabama running back Mark Ingram is the overwhelming favorite to win the 2009 Heisman Trophy according to SportsBook. Ingram is -200. Stanford RB Toby Gerhart is next at +200.

"Gerhart made as much of a late-season run at the Heisman as anyone in recent history," says Cy McCormick of the online betting syndicate MasterLockLine. Colt McCoy, still predicted by many media types is +250.

Ndamukong Suh of Nebraska would become the first pure defensive player to win the Heisman. The Nebraska DT is +500. Note that way say "pure" defensive player. Michigan's Charles Woodson won it as a "primary" defensive player, but was also a punt returner and was occasionally used at WR.

Texas Longhorns Colt McCoy, who will face Ingram in the BCS National Championship, is at +250.

Would be member of that exclusive club, Florida QB Tim Tebow is an eye popping long shot at +2000.

ESPN Experts poll casts Toby Gerhart as the slight favorite over Ingram, with Suh third.

McCoy, Tebow, and injured Oklahoma QB Tim Bradford were the runaway preseason favorites. Bradford would have also been a repeat winner.
