Iverson has had a rough start to the season as he started with the Memphis Grizzlies, but when he realized that he wasn't going to be a starter, he quickly changed his attitude towards the team. The Grizzlies and Iverson parted ways with a settlement and Iverson began looking for a new team shortly thereafter. To his surprise, there were no takers.
The New York Knicks sniffed around for a bit but then decided against signing him. There were some other teams that were looking into Iverson but eventually it was the 76ers, who lost their starting guard Louis Williams, that decided to bring back the Hall of Famer to be.
Iverson is back in a Sixers uniform for the first time in a long time and he'll be starting tonight as the Nuggets visit. The Nuggets were one of the teams that Iverson spent time with but it was yet another situation that didn't pan out.
This matchup is somewhat of a mismatch as the Sixers and Nuggets have been at opposite ends of the spectrum this year. Internet betting cappers have seen the Nuggets continue their surge among the best Western Conference teams while the Sixers have been stuck in the basement in the East.
The Sixers are just 5-15 on the year and have lost nine straight games and have won just once in their last 11 games. Meanwhile, the Nuggets are 15-5 on the year and have lost just twice in their last 11 games.
This is a complete mismatch but the main difference will have to be home court advantage for the Sixers, even though it hasn't been much of an advantage this year. The Sixers will have to use that emotion along with the fact that Iverson is back in the mix if they want to beat one of the elite teams in this league.
