World Cup Betting: Saturday Picks

World Cup betting players in for an exciting second day for the big tournament as there are three games for you to wager on, starting at 7:30 AM ET with South Korea and Greece, then 10:00 with Argentina and Nigeria, and finally at 2:30 PM ET, the glamour match between England and the United States.

Greece South Korea Betting

The Greeks are favored at +160 in this World Cup contest, while South Korea comes in at +175, and a draw is rated at +200. This is the first meeting for these two sides, and this isn't the same boring Greek team that won Euro 2004, but they're still not an attacking juggernaut. There is a worry over the hamstring of South Korea captain Park Ji-Sung, but he should be okay for this match. Both teams play with purpose, but they're not great finishers. This match has a draw written all over it. (Draw +200)

Argentina Nigeria Betting

Argentina is a massive -245 favorite, while Nigeria is listed at +700, and a draw is rated at +325. Argentina has two wins and a draw against Nigeria in their three meetings, and it's looking like manager Diego Maradona is going with three forwards to take on the Nigerians, who can be sloppy at the back. However, the Nigerian defense is improved (which tells you how bad they used to be), and they're going to be very cautious of how they attack the Argentineans, because if they get in a wide-open, up-and-down affair, they're going to be in for a very long day. Look for Lionel Messi to show he's ready for the World Cup. (Argentina -245)

USA England Betting

England is a -225 favorite what should be another wide-open contest, while the Americans are listed at +575, and a draw comes in at +330. The English have seven wins and two losses against the Americans, who beat England 1-0 in the group stages of Brazil 1950, something they've dubbed "The Miracle on Grass". England will attempt the pairing of Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard in midfield, thanks to Gareth Barry's ankle injury, and many are stumped as to why the best central midfielders in Europe can't play together, although it's probably because they're both attack-minded midfielders, and the onus will be on Gerrard to stay back and shield the back four, which lost captain Rio Ferdinand to injury. The Americans will start Jozy Altidore up front, as he has experience against England while playing for Hull City in the Premiership, but he's going to need support from the likes of Landon Donovan if the Americans want to pull off another sports betting upset in South Africa. (England -225)
