It's not a great takeback on the road across the country but Livan Hernandez continues to amaze in having a great season, relatively speaking, and to get something back with the spunky Nats is enough to give it a go in a very small play.
Washington just came an at bat away from sweeping the Phillies and in upset fashion won two of the three games in the series. Adam Dunn was not traded and he and Ryan Zimmerman form almost as solid of a 1-2 punch as there is in the league. Throw in some other capable enough players like Morgan, Pudge and Willingham and there's no reason to believe that the Nats can't continue to win a ballgame or two here in the desert.
I don't hate this Diamondbacks squad as they are more talented than the pathetic record indicates with Reynolds, Upton, Young and a few other high upside type guys but Rodrigo Lopez is nothing more than average and even at home the snakes could lose this game by three or four runs and I wouldn't bat an eye. Arizona has been terrible for pretty much all season long and Kirk Gibson hasn't really changed all that much of the losing culture.
To call this the lock of my life would be insane because this game is u-g-l-y ugly and either of these subpar clubs could win the game in the end. Arizona though should have saved some of those runs in New York yesterday and will come up short today against Livan and his boys.

Sunday marked the latter for me as the Rockies minus 1 ½ were up 8-1 in the 7th only to win 8-7 and the Nationals plus 160 led 4-2 in that same 7th only to fall in 11. Right sides, wrong results.
