The American League schedule for Friday has the White Sox at Baltimore, Minnesota at Cleveland, Boston at the Yankees, Tampa Bay at Toronto, Texas at Oakland, Kansas City at Seattle, and the Angels at Detroit. Jered Weaver (10-7, 3.04 ERA) is slated to take on Justin Verlander (12-6, 3.74 ERA) in that Angels/Tigers matchup. Righthander Weaver is coming off a dominant win over the Rangers in which he gave up just one unearned run on four hits over seven innings of work, while fanning seven. Righthander Verlander took a no-decision against the Red Sox in his most recent trip to the mound, surrendering three runs on six hits in seven innings of work that day, and fanning eight.
Over in the National League on Friday it'll be Cincinnati at the Cubs, Colorado at Pittsburgh, St. Louis at Florida, the Mets at Philadelphia, Houston at Milwaukee, San Diego at Arizona, Washington at the Dodgers, and San Francisco at Atlanta. Barry Zito (8-6, 3.38 ERA) is expected to get the ball for the Giants on Friday, while the Braves counter with Tommy Hanson (8-8, 3.83 ERA). Lefthander Zito had to settle for a no-decision against the Dodgers in his last start despite giving up just one run on three hits over his seven innings of work. Righthander Hanson fell to the Reds last time out, allowing two runs (one earned) over 7 1-3 innings; Atlanta is 0-4 in his last four outings.

The Canadian Football League kicks off the sixth week of its season with two games on Friday: Saskatchewan at Montreal, and Toronto at Edmonton. The Roughriders (4-1 SU, 3-2 ATS) beat Hamilton 37-24 at home last week, while the Alouettes (4-1 SU, 3-2 ATS) trounced Toronto 41-10 last time out. Montreal is listed as the 5-point home favorite for Friday, with the total at 60.5. The Argonauts (3-2 SU, 3-2 ATS) will be looking to bounce back from their Week 5 beating, while the Eskimos (1-4 SU, 2-3 ATS) slipped past British Columbia 28-25 at home last week. The oddsmakers have listed the Eskimos as 6-point home favorites for this Week 6 matchup, with the total set at 51.5.
Finally, there are four games on the WNBA's schedule for Friday, with Washington at New York, San Antonio at Phoenix, Tulsa at Los Angeles, and Atlanta at Indiana. The Dream and Fever just met in Atlanta on Sunday, with the home side picking up a 90-74 victory in that contest as a 2.5-point favorite. Iziane Castro Marques led the way with 22 points for the Dream on that day, while Angel McCoughtry was good for 20 points in the win. Tamika Catchings had a team-high 24 points in Sunday's losing cause for Indiana.
