Saints vs. Patriots NFL Betting Preview, Odds, Premium Picks Info

The New Orleans Saints vs. New England Patriots would be a great regular season matchup, but they start the NFL preseason point spreads tonight.

New England is -1.5 with a  total of 35 according to the NFL odds.

Saints vs. Patriots

New England is very deep at WR. Brandon Tate may be in for a breakout year. He is a third-round pick from last year, who had most of his season wiped out because of injury.

However, the Pats are thin in the trenches with Logan Mankins holding out, Nick Kaczur out with back issues and Ty Warren with a hip injury. Warren's backup Ron Brace has been a big disappointment thus far.

The Saints regular will play 15-18 plays. About the same is expected for New England. As per usual, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has been noncommittal on if star WR Wes Welker will play following ACL and MCL surgery.

The Pats have not had live contact in practice. Remember, last year in the preseason opener, the Patriots starters played into the second quarter, with Tom Brady throwing 15 passes.

CB Leigh Bodden is out, meaning NE will start two young players in the secondary against the high powered Saints.

The Saints have good depth in the secondary but are in flux as Darren Sharper is out.

Against the spread records (all are preseason only): The Saints are 19-8 as road underdogs of seven or less. The Patriots are 19-8 at home in nonconference games since 1993.
