Sportsbook Previews Jets vs. Giants

ESPN Monday Night Football, the Jets vs. the Giants and Bodog has their betting preview.

The $1.6 billion New Meadowlands Stadium officially debuts tonight then the New York Jets host the New York Giants on "Monday Night Football." Yes, the Jets are the home team so the stadium will be lit in green, and they are 3-point favorites on Bodog's NFL odds – there will be live betting available on the game, which will be shown on ESPN.

This is the first time since the 1983 season that the Jets and Giants have met for their opening preseason game. Of course the Jets have been getting more publicity than probably any other team with their appearance on HBO's "Hard Knocks" series. And of course the big story involving the Jets is the continued holdout of All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis. Rookie Kyle Wilson will start in place of Revis tonight; Antonio Cromartie actually takes Revis' spot with Wilson taking Cromartie's. Also seeing action tonight will be defensive tackle Kris Jenkins, who hasn't seen game action since tearing his left ACL last Oct. 18. Jason Taylor, Cromartie, LaDainian Tomlinson and Santonio Holmes all make their Jets debuts tonight.

The Giants, who have quietly gone about their business while the Jets steal all the headlines, say they will play most of their starters for about 12 plays and no more than a quarter. The thing most Giants fans will be monitoring is the defense under new coordinator Perry Fewell. That unit allowed 427 points last year, the second-most in franchise history, and 40 or more points in five games. The G-Men added veteran safeties Antrel Rolle and Deon Grant and linebacker Keith Bulluck to the defense in the offseason.

The teams have met in every preseason since 1969, with the Jets leading the series, 22-18-1. The Giants are 2-4 against the Jets in the preseason under Tom Coughlin.
