Free Pick: Iowa State Gets the Number

Matt Rivers has yet another betting pick winner on Iowa State (+8.5) at home against Kansas.

The reasoning: Kansas just survived in overtime at Michigan and are now going on the road once again and playing a solid enough Iowa State squad that will be ready for the team with an x on its chest coming to town.

Gary Brackens is no longer on the Cyclones but this team is 13-3 and still pretty solid. Diante Garrett and the 'Clones haven't had the toughest of schedules so this will be the first major test and I think they are going to pass it. The Mayor, Fred Hoiberg appears to be a quality coach and has played a time or two in tough games like this. He will rely on Garrett to fill it up which he has done and Jake Anderson to clean up the boards here against the Jayhawks and I think that can be done with Cole Aldrich long gone to the NBA.

Bill Self's team is once again super talented with the Morris brothers, Tyshan Taylor and super freshman Josh Selby and go a lot deeper than an Iowa State group which only has seven scholarship players and just 9 altogether.

Rock, chalk Jayhawk is a perfect 14-0 and probably will be 15-0 after this game. But it's not the easiest of spots for a Kansas team that just survived in Ann Arbor against the Wolverines as a similar chalk and are playing in only their third true road game of the season.

I do think that KU is too good in the end today but this is quite possibly the biggest game of the season for State and I think they will play their best game of the season and compete until pretty much the end in a cover.

Top expert pick on this game: Iowa State

For more information: A 10-1 football run but I must bring some game today on the hardwoods and prove how great I am there as well. A pair of plays including a big-time raising of the bar 400,000* from Nashville in this SEC clash between Georgia and Vanderbilt. Bonus 300,000* involving number one Duke and Florida State. More times than not I am a dog player and these are somewhat big numbers. Do I stay somewhat true to form and back the Bulldogs and Seminoles or eat a little bit of chalk today with the Commodores and champion Blue Devils? I will win and you can too! Click now to purchase
