Vancouver Olympics Review

The flame has been extinguished. Bodog reviews the Winter Olympics.

After 17 days and one of the most exciting Olympics of all time, let's take a look back at the Top 10 moments from the Vancouver Olympics.

1.   The United States leads the 2010 Winter Olympics with 37 medals. Despite some disappointments and a strong charge by host Canada, there were more than enough surprises and stunning moments for the USA to establish Olympic dominance.

2.   Canadian Joannie Rochette takes the bronze medal four days after her mother died unexpectedly from a heart attack. Rochette's performance was both courageous and awe-inspiring.

3.   Evan Lysacek upsets Russian Evgeni Plushenko in men's figure skating with a perfect skate.

4.   Alex Bilodeau wins moguls gold on Day 2 of the Games – giving Canada its first ever gold medal on home soil and erasing the sting from disappointing showings in Calgary and Montreal.

5.   After nearly breaking her ribs and suffering through brutal pain, Slovenian Petra Majdic guts her way through two more rounds of the women's 1.4-kilometer sprint to win bronze.

6.   Hannah Kearney wins USA's first gold medal of the Olympics with a brilliant run in the moguls.

7.   Shaun White delivers perhaps the greatest performance in Olympic snowboard history en route to gold in the halfpipe. Despite already clinching gold, White broke out the Double McTwist – a move only he can perform.

8.   Lindsey Vonn skies through pain to earn a gold medal in the women's downhill. Vonn fought back tears at the end of her run.

9.   Team USA nearly pulled off a comeback for the ages against the Canadian hockey team, scoring in the dying moments of regulation to force overtime. Sidney Crosby scored the golden goal and kicked off a celebration in Canada like no other.

10. Fired up to celebrate after winning gold in the skeleton, Canadian Jon Montgomery jogged through the streets of Whistler Village as hundreds of fans cheered him on – and chugged a pitcher of beer a fellow Canuck passed to him.

The USA came out on top of the medal standings in the 2010 Games, finishing with 37 total medals (nine gold, 15 silver, 13 bronze). Germany was next on the podium with 30 (10 gold, 13 silver, seven bronze). The host nation enjoyed a ton of success with 26 medals and a third-place finish (14 gold, seven silver, five bronze). Norway (nine gold, eight silver, six bronze) finished fourth, while Austria rounded out the top five (four gold, six silver, six bronze).

After actively campaigning to "own the podium" the Canadians came through with a record 14 gold medals. It's the most gold a country has ever captured at a Winter Olympics, surpassing Norway (2002) and the Soviet Union (1976). The gold rush was even more impressive considering Canada had never won an event on home soil in the two previous games it hosted in Calgary and Montreal.

Bodog: Dancing With the Stars Line-Up, American Idol Odds

During the Bachelor finale last night, the Dancing with the Stars lineup was revealed. Good Morning America followed-up by announcing the pairings. Pamela Anderson will be dancing with Australian newbie Damian Whitewood.

90210's Shannen Doherty has been paired with two-time winner, boner boy Mark Ballas.

Peeping tom victim Erin Andrews is partnered with DWTS hottie, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, while couger magnet Tony Dovolani will tango with reality TV divorcee and mother of eight, Kate Gosselin.

Evan Lysacek, fresh from winning Olympic gold in Vancouver, is paired with Ana Trebunskaya while NFL player Chad Ochocinco dances with two-time DWTS champion and Drew Lachey lover Cheryl Burke.

The Bachelor's Jake Pavelka will be dancing with Chelsie Hightower. No word on whether or not his new fiance will be jealous. Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger will dance with Derek Hough - Scherzinger has a bit of an unfair advantage, considering she's famous for being in the Pussycat Dolls – a singing and dancing group. Aiden Turner is paired up with the always scantily clad Edyta Sliwinska, Niecy Nash gets Louis van Amstel and astronaut Buzz Aldrin is with Ashley Costa.

Who will take home the giant glitterball? We have no idea but the Bodog Sportsbook has your American Idol odds! Get them now!

Well it didn't come as much of a surpise to anyone thanks to reality Steve – but it was still fun to watch the bad girl of the bachelorette house score the big proposal on the season finale of The Bachelor.

Twenty-three-year-old, unemployed, Daddy's girl, Vienna Giradi is bachelor Jake Pavelka's final choice. He proposed to her in the finale episode and she accepted, sending home a sad but positive Tenley Molzahn.

Molzahn was the obvious favorite to win (among the Pavelka family members). After talking to Tenley, a teary-eyed Jim Pavelka said, "I feel that I have probably met my future daughter-in-law today."

However, it was not meant to be for Tenley. Citing that there "was something missing," Jake sent her home in tears.

"Jake will see the mistake he made, and I feel bad for him," Tenley said as she rode away in the limo of shame.

How could Jake possibly choose Vienna?

St. John's Will Cover Says Matt Rivers Handicapper

Oh no, Susan Dey won't be part of the Partridge Family reunion. Who is one Dancing With the Stars 2010? Who is favorite in the Bachelor finale 2010? The entertainment odds have the answer.

Matt Rivers, who was the winningest handicapper ever—nobody came close—on a large network of sites has a free pick tonight on St. John's plus the points. They are getting 13.5 at SportsBook

The Syracuse Orangemen have probably been worse to me than any other team this entire season. I have gone against Jim Boeheim's squad a bunch of times and they have continually shoved it straight up my you know where. Just the other day was yet another example as I thought Villanova would cover that game but no.

So I fully admit that backing St. John's may prove to be the kiss of death here but I like the underdog Johnnies and will make a small play on them.

'Cuse just had game day at the Carrier Dome and won that big emotional game over Jay Wright's Wildcats to win the Big East regular season with that 14-2 conference record to go along with their phenomenal 27-2 overall mark.  Is it not possible for the Orange to let their guard down just a bit tonight for a fairly talented St. John's team to stay in this thing? I'm betting yes and that is why we are going to see a tighter than expected result today.

I am not saying that Johnson, Rautins, Onuaku, Jackson, Joseph and the home boys are not the far superior team but college athletics is a lot about emotions and I'm just not sure that Syracuse can be that pumped for this game after what just transpired a few days ago.

Meanwhile the Red Storm will be gunning for the champs here and are an improving program under Norm Roberts.  They have won two in a row on the road against pretty solid teams in Notre Dame and South Florida and also upset Louisville as the seven-point dog a few weeks back at home. The Storm is not really a flashy team at all but DJ Kennedy is really good and guys like Hardy and Horne are alright.

This thing is more about an Orange letdown then anything else and in the end I can see 76-68 Syracuse in the end.

College Basketball Tuesday Preview

This Tuesday, as the NCAA season winds down, a big SEC matchup will take place when the Florida Gators host the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Vanderbilt Commodores (22-6, 11-3 2nd in SEC) @ Florida Gators (20-9, 9-5 t-3rd in SEC)

NCAA Basketball Odds: (*note lines are approximated as they have not been posted at the time of writing)

Spread: Vanderbilt -1.5

Over/Under: 150

Money Line: Vanderbilt -135, Florida +110

Why Florida will win

Florida is coming off a bad loss at Georgia where their comeback attempt fell just short on Saturday 78-76. The Gators who are still on the fringe of being a NCAA team at 20-9, could not afford to loss to a sub.500 team, even if Georgia is 12-3 at home. Florida's schedule does not get any easier as they have the second ranked in the SEC Vanderbilt Commodores Tuesday and league leading Kentucky left on the regular season schedule. A 20-11 finish may not be enough to go dancing. Florida would be safe if they can win this game.

To do so the Gators will need a big day from their talented guards, Kenny Boynton (13.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists) and Erving Walker (13.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.0 assists). These guys may be needed more for their defense in this one as the big men of Florida are superior to Vanderbilt's. Vernon Macklin and Alex Tyus are juniors who have begun to show some superior athleticism. This Florida team seems to be a year away from a serious run but they can make some noise if they get into the tournament. This game would be a nice addition to the resume.

Why Vanderbilt will win

Vanderbilt has won five of their last six (including a 2 point loss to Kentucky 58-56) games and are gearing up for both the SEC and NCAA tournament. As they vie for seeding, a loss here would certainly hurt Vanderbilt's hopes of a top 4 seed. Many view the SEC as a weak league, although there is a bevy of talented guard play throughout.

The Commodores are led by senior guard Jermaine Beal (14.6 points, 3.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds) and sophomore guard Jeffrey Taylor (14.3 points, 1.8 assists, 5.3 rebounds).Vanderbilt is a very deep team and has already beaten Florida once this year on January 9th (95-87).Junior Center A.J. Ogilvy  scored 24 in that one.

Bookmakers Review: Prediction

Vanderbilt is comfortable with making the NCAA tournament at this point and has been on a roll for a month. Florida's ride has been bumpier. Vanderbilt has guys that can put up points in a hurry on you and Florida showed as recently as Saturday that they have the ability to comeback, although they fell just short against Georgia, it was a respectable effort on the road. Florida needs this game or they will have to either upset Kentucky or win a couple games in the SEC tournament to be safely in the NCAA tournament as a four game slide to end the season would be a likely death nail in their tourney hopes. Look for Florida, who matches up well with Vanderbilt to come away with this game.

Final: Florida 80 – Vanderbilt 76

Sportsbook Review: Take the Gators and the over.

Sports Handicapper's Picks

Matt Rivers has a free pick on the Dallas Mavericks in Charlotte. They are getting three-points as the line is actually going up.

This is not going to be an easy game for the Mavericks playing on the back-to-back and third game in four nights including that overtime in Atlanta but Charlotte is back home after the tough four game west coast road trip and that is always the kiss of death.

If you follow this theory you are going to win a lot more than you lose. Teams that are on a three plus game road trip do not cover in that first game back home. A proven NBA head coach once said that and after watching and studying this trend for years it has become a proven fact. Sure it can't win all the time and tonight we are testing this with Dirk and the fellas quite possibly having some wobbly legs unlike Charlotte who have been off for a few days but do not screw with this.

The Mavs to begin with are clearly the far superior team. With Jason Kidd playing like he is to go along with Jason Terry, Dirk and Caron Butler among others this team is a semi force right now. I don't think they have a real chance against the Lakers, as there is something with this franchise when it comes to the playoffs but they will compete and in these regular season games are really good.

I like Larry Brown's team with Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson leading the way but let's be honest here, at home or on the road they are the weaker team when compared to the Mavs before the theory kicks in. Now in this spot is too big of a negative for them.

We should see a tight game but in the end Dirk and the boys from Big D will get it done!

The pick: Dallas +3 at BetUs

For more information: I have 1.4 million* of profit over the past 44 days after the 1-1 Sunday. I nailed Richmond to a tee and got ridiculously unlucky as Sylven Landesberg was injured, unknown to anybody, and did not play in the loss against Duke destroying me before the game even began.

Two plays today including an Ultra-Rare NBA Game of the Year between the Knicks and Cavaliers as I improve to a perfect 4-0 with these. What were the first three parts? Cavaliers outclassing Orlando a few weeks back, the Clippers outright in Chicago as the eight-point dog and the Spurs dismantling the Hawks as cheap 4 point favorites. Bonus college 200,000* from Austin as well to complete a 2-0 sweep. Click now to purchase
