Ohio and Texas Primaries, Sportsbooks Favor Obama, Even if Pollsters Like Clinton

Do the sportsbooks know something that the pollsters do not? Four of the five major polling organizations have Hillary Rodham Clinton ahead in the critical Ohio Democratic Primary, yet Bookmaker had them in a virtual dead heat. Clinton is -120 to take the Buckeye State, but Obama is -110.

Real Clear Politics, which is the average of Reuters/CSpan/Zogby, Rasmussen, Fox News, and Survey USA, has Clinton up by four percentage points.

But the Texas Democratic Primary is even more stunning. Barack Obama is a stunning -450 favorite according to Bookmaker, with Clinton +350. Yet RCP has Obama with a modest consensus lead of just .8 percentage points. Clinton even leads in two of the top Lonestar State polls, WFAA/Belo Tracking and InsiderAdvantage.

Grandmaster handicapper Joe Duffy of GodsTips, anchor of OffshoreInsiders.com believes that the Clinton machine will live to see another day. "We will bet the better-than 3-to-1 odds for Clinton to take Texas," says Duffy.

Some believe Rush Limbaugh insisting Texas Republicans cross party lines to vote for Clinton could actually make the difference in a close race.

In other prop talk, David Archuleta remains a prohibitive favorite to capture American Idol.
