Saturday's Betting

College football, college basketball, the NBA, and the NHL will all try to share the sporting scene on a busy Saturday. Here's a look in your Daily Sports Roundup.

The Gridiron Spotlight

The Meineke Bowl kicks off Saturday's college football schedule at 1:00pm ET, with West Virginia (8-4 straight-up, 4-7 against-the-spread) taking on North Carolina (8-4 SU, 6-5 ATS). Wisconsin (7-5 SU, 5-6 ATS) will then battle Florida State (8-4 SU, 5-5 ATS) in the Champs Sports Bowl at 4:30, with Miami (7-5 SU, 5-6 ATS) then taking on California (8-4 SU, 9-3 ATS) in the Emerald Bowl at 8:00.

The biggest favorite in that trio of games is California; according to BetUs Sportsbook  they're giving up 8 points in a near-home game against the Hurricanes. Florida State is favored by 6 points against Wisconsin, while the Mountaineers are favored by 1.5 points versus the Tar Heels. As for the totals, the sportsbooks say it's 45.5 in the West Virginia/North Carolina matchup, 52 in the Wisconsin/Florida State game, and 50 in the Miami/California capper; the 'Canes and Golden Bears are a combined 14-9 versus the totals this season.

Other Notable Events

The San Jose Sharks entered the Christmas break with a league-leading mark of 27-4-3, and they'll be back in action on Saturday night with a road game in St. Louis against the Blues. The Sharks blanked the Vancouver Canucks 5-0 in their last game, while the Blues continued their sliding ways with a 4-1 loss to Detroit.

A busy Saturday night has 10 other games on the ice, including Montreal at Pittsburgh and New Jersey at the Rangers. As well, it's the Islanders at Buffalo, Boston at Carolina, Philadelphia at Columbus, Florida at Tampa Bay, Detroit at Colorado, Los Angeles at Phoenix, and Ottawa at Calgary, while Ryan Getzlaf and his Anaheim Ducks will head over to Texas for a road game versus the Stars.

The Rest of the Schedule

There are eight games in the NBA on Saturday night, including Orlando at Minnesota. The Magic thumped New Orleans 88-68 in their Christmas Day matchup and now sit at 23-6 SU and a lucrative 19-9-1 ATS on the season. As well, it'll be Chicago at Atlanta, Oklahoma City at Washington, New Jersey at Charlotte, Detroit at Milwaukee, Memphis at San Antonio, and Toronto at Portland, while the evening's marquee matchup will see Utah playing in Houston.

And there are four ranked teams in action in college hoops Saturday, including No. 15 Ohio State vs. West Virginia. The Buckeyes are coming off an easy 83-59 win over N.C. Asheville, and they're 9-0 SU and 4-2 ATS. West Virginia is 9-2 SU and 4-4 ATS. No. 11 Michigan State will play against Oakland on Saturday, while it's also UAB vs. No. 19 Louisville, and then SIU-Edwardsville vs. No. 25 Missouri.

A Peek at the Future

The NFL wraps up its regular season on Sunday, with many key games on the schedule. Current odds for the bigger matchups: Dallas at Philadelphia (-1.5), the Giants at Minnesota (-7), Chicago at Houston (-2.5), Carolina (-3) at New Orleans, St. Louis at Atlanta (-14), Jacksonville at Baltimore (-12.5), Miami at the Jets (-2.5), New England (-6.5) at Buffalo, and finally Denver at San Diego (-8).

With all the playoff scenarios effecting week 17 NFL picks, among the subplots is the future of Jets coach Eric Mangini.
