The Cavaliers plus the points in Charlottesville is worth a play here for sure. Maryland is a good team but let's be honest this isn't one of Gary Williams' better teams and all in all I just don't really fear the turtle. Yes Jordan Williams, Adrian Bowie and Dino Gregory form a solid threesome and a team that can win on the road but UVA has looked better of late and just beat up Georgia Tech in that last game. The Yellow Jackets are in the midst of a down season but they have been improved of late except for that loss.

I watched Virginia lead by double digits at Cameron in semi shocking fashion before losing and covering and looked like a team that knew what they were doing. In that last game they competed hard and covered easily in Chestnut Hill against Boston College. I just like what this team is becoming. They won't win the ACC or even make the field of 65 but things are a little better this season and wins at both Virginia Tech and Minnesota show just that.

Tony Bennett is a quality coach and even with the loss of Mike Scott has kept the ship afloat and even at times these guys have looked better. The Cavs have gone small with the four guard sets and it has worked a lot of the time. Mustaphaha Farrakhan is on that streak of six consecutive games of double-figure scoring and will be a large factor if the Cavaliers want to move to .500 at 3-3 in the ACC. It'll be tough to bang with Williams down low but overall to get a handful at home is enough for me with the improving boys from Virginia.

Roy Williams' squad has not exactly meshed into the young and talented top 15 type group that a lot of people have predicted. The Tar Heels at times have looked like the underachieving mess of last season. But with that said more times than not UNC does show they have a solid enough upside with a young potential superstar in Harrison Barnes along with guys like Larry Drew, John Henson, Tyler Zeller and a few others. I'm not at all saying that traveling down south to Miami is going to be easy but I do believe that the Heels are clearly the more talented team that should win this game and make it six victories in their last seven games.

Miami is all right and the Hurricanes do possess quality guard play. Durand Scott and Malcolm Grant can shoot the three and are definitely formidable and especially so at home but the 'Canes are just not very good overall. Miami is 12-7 overall and 1-4 in the ACC after losing four of the last five games and average at the very best. I will give the Hurricanes credit for pretty much staying in the majority of games and fighting until the end, win or lose, but once again things should not go their way. They have lost a lot of close games and I can see this being another example of just that.

North Carolina at times is no better than tonight's opponent and the road is never easy but the Heels pretty much have the better everything and at around a pick is the clear-cut way to go in my book.
