NBA

NEW ORLEANS +4.5 Houston

This is one of the top sharp versus squares games.  That means most of the sharp money is going one way and most of the sucker money the other way according to our offshore, Vegas and “outlaw” contacts.  We go with the sharp money.

Also as long-term clients are well aware, a significant home dog, with a better home mark than the road team’s road record is always a great play, other than the notable exceptions that we point out. New Orleans is 20-13 SU at home, which is better than Houston on the road.  New Orleans is a solid 7-3 their last 10 SU at home.

Houston has some injury concerns. Rockets guard Tracy McGrady, battling congestion and nausea since Thursday’s game against the Pistons, did not practice Saturday. He made an appearance but was sent to the training room.

“He’s here, but he’s sick,” coach Jeff Van Gundy said. “We’ll just see (about tonight). It’s hard to know right now.”

Van Gundy said center Dikembe Mutombo will sit out tonight’s game because of continued trouble with his left knee.

The Hornets are one of only two opponents the Rockets have not beaten this season, losing both games against the Hornets (they are 0-3 against the Suns). The Rockets have lost five of their past six games to the Hornets, struggling against Chris Paul’s playmaking and the shooting around him.
