Adam Wainwright has pitched his best on the road this year. St. Louis is 8-3 in his road starts +5.9.  We know he pitches well under pressure as last year’s postseason leaves no doubt.  But as a starter?  Well as the Cards sneak back into the race, Wainwright’s ERA since the All-Star break is 3.07, compared to 4.66 before.  His strikeout/walk ratio since is 34-10 as opposed to 40-59 in the so-called first half.

Most importantly, the Cards have won four straight and 6-of-7. Milwaukee’s great start was in no small part to a disproportionate number of one-run wins. But with the pressure on, they’ve lost 7-of-10.   They are 9-17 their last 26.
