Tuesday Betting Card

Two veteran pitchers will take to the mound on Tuesday night when the Mets and the Phillies meet in an NL East divisional matchup. Here's your Daily Sports Roundup . . .

Non-sports betting event…

That didn't take long. BetUs Sportsbook has posted Dancing With the Stars odds. Our sympathies are out to the family of former NBA player Kevin Duckworth, who died at age 44 of unknown causes.

We have been asked about odds on Hurricane Gustav. Again the sportsbooks suffered some PR hits and few any longer post odds on potential natural disasters.

At our international headquarters though, we are ecstatic of the rising levels of Lake Lanier in north Atlanta. We have gone from drought to our backyards looking like the Georgia Aquarium.

Newest OffshoreInsiders.com hottie..

In our never ending goal to be inclusive and pay homage to all beautiful women, Miami Dolphins cheerleader Lilly Robbins is our latest. Ellen Tien, the distaff answer to John Edwards is our anti-hottie.

Event of the day . . .

It'll be Pedro Martinez (4-3, 4.97 ERA) vs. Jamie Moyer (11-7, 3.54 ERA) on Tuesday night as the Mets begin a short two-game road set against the division-rival Phillies.

Martinez has managed to pick up just one win so far in the month of August, going 1-1 with three no-decisions over five outings. However, the righthander held the opposition to three or fewer earned runs in four of those five August starts. Last time out, against the Braves, Martinez surrendered four earned runs on seven hits over seven innings.

Moyer is 1-1 with two no-decisions in his four August outings, but he's also been effective - the lefthander has allowed just six earned runs over 24 2-3 innings so far this month. Moyer was stuck with a no-decision in his start against the Nationals last time out, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits over 6 2-3 innings of work that day.

Football rolls along…

GodsTips has had winning weeks 4-of-4 in football. Yes folks, you are seeing what is about to come—a lot of winning. We have had four winning weeks, closing out with Buffalo and Seattle and as we told you in the analysis, the similarities between the two games bit us. Both covered easy and we are so fired up as we are two days away from college football!

Non-event of the day . . .

The poor Rockies seem to end up in this section quite a bit. Colorado is expected to send Jorge De La Rosa (6-7, 5.86 ERA) to the mound on the road on Tuesday night when they take on San Francisco. The Giants' probable pitcher for the contest is rookie Matt Palmer (0-1, 8.64 ERA), who was roughed up in his first start of the season against the Braves, but came back with a solid outing against the Marlins last Thursday night.

Also on the schedule . . .

The rest of the National League schedule for Tuesday night: the Cubs at Pittsburgh, the Dodgers at Washington, Florida at Atlanta, Cincinnati at Houston, Milwaukee at St. Louis, and Arizona at San Diego. Brandon Webb (19-4, 2.74 ERA) will be gunning for his 20th win of the season when the Diamondbacks take on the weakling Padres.

Over in the American League the top Tuesday matchups are in the AL East, where it's Boston at the Yankees (Wakefield vs. Pettitte) and Toronto at Tampa Bay (Halladay vs. Shields). Other Junior Circuit contests on tap: the White Sox at Baltimore, Cleveland at Detroit, Texas at Kansas City, Oakland at the Angels, and Minnesota at Seattle.

News from the wire . . .

There is still limited information available about the injuries being nursed by both Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady . . . the Giants have lost lineman Osi Umenyiora for the season because of a knee injury, and now might try to lure back Michael Strahan . . . Vijay Singh won the first PGA Tour playoff tournament, beating Sergio Garcia and Kevin Sutherland in a playoff at The Barclays.

Peek at the future . . .

The second PGA Tour playoff tournament, the Deutsche Bank Championship, gets underway on Friday morning . . . it'll be Johan Santana (12-7, 2.64 ERA) vs. Kyle Kendrick (11-7, 4.87 ERA) in the Mets/Phillies matchup on Wednesday night . . . the college football season gets underway on Thursday night with 14 games on the schedule, including No. 23 Wake Forest hitting the road for a contest against Baylor.
