NBA

Knicks-Sixers

McCall

Philly has lost 10 of its last 13 games and is closer to being out of the playoffs than the spot ahead of it. Knicks will be without Jalen Rose, Stephon Marbury and perhaps even Steve Francis.

Nuggets-Mavericks

Dallas Morning News

The last time the Mavericks played an afternoon game, they were down by double figures before they broke a sweat and were trounced at New Jersey. They tried a different approach to getting ready for this matinee by not practicing Saturday. They will have a pregame walk- through before today’s game. They had won four straight over the Nuggets until a 113-104 loss at Denver on Feb. 10

Suns-Pistons

USA Today

The Pistons have the NBA’s best overall record, the best home record and the best road record. The Pistons are 6-2 against the teams with the next four best records — San Antonio, Dallas, Phoenix and Miami. The Suns, who lost at home to the Pistons the fifth game of the season, are only 4-6 against the other four best teams.

Rockets-Lakers

Press Telegram

With five victories in their last six games, the Lakers seem to be hitting their stride at the right time. On Saturday, coach Phil Jackson and players also stressed the ability to win at home. Entering Saturday, the Lakers had the worst home record (21-14) of the top eight teams in the Western Conference.
