Saturday Betting Report

The big event on Saturday takes place down in Texas, where the No. 1 Longhorns will try to grab a victory against the No. 6 Red Raiders. Here's your Daily Sports Roundup and most importantly, don't forget the roundup of the top sports picks for today.

The Gridiron Spotlight

Texas Tech can get some consideration for the top spot in the college football rankings if they can knock off No. 1 Texas. The Red Raiders are listed as 3.5-point home underdogs in this contest, while the battle of potent offenses has a posted total of 74 points. The Longhorns are 8-0 straight-up and 7-1 against-the-spread on the season, while the Red Raiders are also 8-0 SU but a less lucrative 3-2-1 versus the posted line.

No. 2 Alabama will host Arkansas State on Saturday afternoon as a big 23.5-point favorite, while No. 4 Oklahoma will get a visit from Nebraska and try to cover the 21.5-point spread. No. 5 Florida will be in tough against No. 8 Georgia; the Gators are 6.5-point favorites. The real Ironman Florida is the World's Largest Cocktail Party.

Meanwhile, it's Washington at No. 7 USC (-46) and Iowa State at No. 9 Oklahoma State (-30.5) in a pair of mismatches, and No. 10 Utah (-7.5) at New Mexico. Also the FSU gang takes on GA Tech.

Other Notable Events

As daylight savings time approaches, the Los Angeles Lakers are back in action Saturday, as they'll travel to Denver to play the Nuggets. Kobe Bryant and company haven't had any trouble with their opponents so far, beating Portland 96-76 in their opener, and then bouncing the Clippers 117-79. Denver dropped their opener 98-94 to Utah, and played the Clippers late on Friday night.

Other games on the NBA's schedule for Saturday: Philadelphia at Atlanta, Sacramento at Orlando, Miami at Charlotte, Boston at Indiana, Washington at Detroit, Golden State at New Jersey, Dallas at Minnesota, Cleveland at New Orleans, Memphis at Chicago, Oklahoma City at Houston, Toronto at Milwaukee, and the Clippers at Utah. As well, the Blazers will move on without Greg Oden when they play on the road against the Suns.

The Rest of the Schedule

There'll be 24 teams hitting the ice in NHL action on Saturday, including the league-leading New York Rangers on the road in Toronto. The rest of the schedule: Edmonton at Carolina, Dallas at Boston, Chicago at Columbus, Montreal at the Islanders, Atlanta at New Jersey, Washington at Buffalo, Ottawa at Tampa Bay, Florida at Nashville, Pittsburgh at St. Louis, Calgary at Los Angeles, and then finally Minnesota at Phoenix.

As well, the Canadian Football League ends their regular season with a pair of games on Saturday. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are pegged as 7-point home favorites in the early game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, with the total at 51.5 points. The Calgary Stampeders will then host the B.C. Lions later in the day, with no line yet at press time.

A Peek at the Future

Top NFL matchups for Sunday include Baltimore at Cleveland (-1.5), Green Bay at Tennessee (-4.5), and Dallas at the Giants (-9), while it'll be New England at Indianapolis (-6) on Sunday Night Football . . . the only two NBA games on Sunday are Milwaukee at New York (6:00pm ET) and Minnesota at Oklahoma City (7:00pm ET) . . . UCF will host East Carolina in college football action on Sunday as 3.5-point underdogs.
