Florida State-NC State OVER 39

With FSU missing three players in the secondary, it makes sense that NC State will attack their weakness. Three new players in the secondary—different from the group that started on Labor Day against the Hurricanes—are expected to play Thursday. Only free safety Roger Williams has started each game.

But the shuffling doesn’t end there. The injuries have become so bothersome on the defensive line since the preseason that nearly every player on the unit is cross-training at both tackle and end.

Nose tackle Paul Griffin tore his ACL in the second week and was lost for the season. With the Seminoles already thin due to injury, Andrews decided to run a 3-4 defense—which features three lineman and four linebackers—to compensate.

Andre Fluellen moved to Griffin’s slot, defensive end Alex Boston stepped in for Fluellen, and Darrell Burston took the other end position.

Top reserve linebacker Marcus Ball suffered a season-ending knee injury vs. Rice. Andrews went back to the 4-3, by inserting redshirt freshman Everette Brown on the defensive line.

However on offense, the Noles had a huge breakout game and much maligned, deservingly so, offensive coordinator Jeff Bowden opened the playbook.  We certainly expect that to continue.
