Sunday Computer Trends

Here are NFL betting trends against the spread for the early NFL games of September 9, 2007.  All records exclude pushes.

Atlanta-Minnesota

The Falcons have actually beaten the pointspread in eight of their last nine openers. Minnesota is 8-3 their last 11 as home favorites. Atlanta has gone under 26-9 their last 35 at home.

Panthers-Rams

Carolina is on a 20-9 tear on the highway.  They are 4-9 their last 13 to the NFC. The Rams are 8-18 as a favorite.

Broncos-Bills

Bills are 7-2 their last nine overall.

Chiefs-Texans

KC is 2-8 as a road underdog while the Texans have failed in five straight September games.

Dolphins-Redskins

Miami is 1-7 their last eight as a dog of three or less.

Patriots-Jets

New England is 7-1 their last eight as road favorites and 25-10 their last 35 road overall. In fact, the Patriots have been the Vegas line at a 48-23 overall rate. Each of the last eight series meetings has exceeded the total.

Eagles-Packers

Philly is 1-6 as a favorite.  Green Bay is 6-18 at home. The Eagles have covered 7-of-8 in the series.

Steelers-Browns

Pittsburgh is 19-7 as a favorite of 3.5-10.  Cleveland is 3-9 as home underdogs. Pittsburgh is also 6-0 in the series.

Titans-Jaguars

Tennessee is a titanic 7-0 as an underdog, yet 1-4 their last five as road underdogs of 3.5-10. Jacksonville is 7-2 at home and they have covered their opener eight straight years.

Bears-Chargers

Bears are 5-13 as road underdogs of 3.5-10. In fact, they are 1-4 their last five when the books have them as an underdog.  The Bolts are 6-1 their last seven as home favorites of 3.5-10 and 27-13 their last 42 on grass. Chicago has gone under the Vegas pointspread 7-1 as an underdog of 3.5-10 points.  However, the Bears have actually gone over 16-5 their last 22 overall.

Lions-Raiders

Detroit is 4-0 according to those who bet on sports in the first week of the season. But they’ve lost 6-of-8 road games overall. Oakland is on a 20-44 spread skid. Detroit has gone under 6-0 as dog of three or less. Oakland has gone under 20-8 on grass.

Buccaneers-Seahawks

Tampa is 2-7 the last nine games. They are 9-19 on the highway and 1-6 their last seven inside the conference. Seahawks are 2-8 to the NFC. Tampa has gone under 13-4 on the road.
