Day Baseball Pick

PBGC.gov may have some unclaimed money, but the top baseball handicappers know that the bookmakers have been giving away money.

Matt Rivers free pick for Thursday is on the Toronto Blue Jays. They are laying 122 at Bet Guardian.

Sure I'll take Ricky Romero against a terrible offense and lay a small price at most. This is the dreaded road chalk role which won't get anybody rich quick but the Mariners offense is horrendous, save Ichiro, and with the way the Toronto ace lefty has been pitching there's not much Seattle should be able to muster.

Cito Gaston's Jays meanwhile have been a heck of a lot better than anybody imagined. After trading away Roy Halladay the experts in Vegas were predicting a 70-win season. I'm not saying the roof can't cave in and this team start to shrivel up and end in that neighborhood but as of right now this Toronto team has been pretty darn solid and until anything changes I can't help but take my chances with them in this bargain basement price in Seattle.

Romero is awesome and unhittable at times. Pitching across the country (ies) shouldn't come easy by any means but Safeco is a pitcher's park and a bad offense against a very good and hot hurler should not be conducive to do all that much.

Jason Vargas at times is all right. The southpaw just more than held his own in Tampa Bay against a quality Rays offense but I don't trust Vargas at all. A last good start could mean he's in the showers here by the third inning and I would not be all that surprised.

Vernon Wells has been great and all in all the Jays are the far superior club on the field today and a small must play.

For more information: The run has been golden and the winner today is early. A 400,000* between the Cubs and Phillies in one of my favorite games of the young season. Are you kidding me with this number? Seriously? Seven of nine winning days. Click now to purchase Matt Rivers picks.
