Sports Winning Bets: Matt Rivers Friday

Matt Rivers, who was the winningest handicapper ever—nobody came close—on a large network of sites has a free pick against the MLB baseball odds and it is on the Orioles.

Why not? I am one of the bigger Shawn Marcum fans around as the guy is one of the least known very very good pitchers around but this number is still a bit much if you ask me.

Kevin Millwood has been very good at times this season and I can see both pitchers controlling the pace and keeping this thing low scoring. I'm not saying this game is not going to be difficult for the visiting Orioles because it is but Toronto is still not a team that I am scared of and Marcum is still not great. The Jays have been the much better team thus far on the season and overall are the superior team. Vernon Wells has led the way for the Jays and all in all Cito Gaston's club has been a lot better than most sports bettors thought, including yours truly.

No matter how poor the Baltimore record is and how bad the O's have played at times, including late in yesterday's debacle, I will go to my grave believing that Dave Trembley's team is not that bad. Markakis, Jones, Tejada and Wieters have a ton of potential and form a club that is dangerous. They obviously haven't tapped into that potential all that much and may not today against a semi stud in Marcum. Millwood though isn't chopped liver and this game is winnable so I'm fine making a small play on the, yes right now bad, but at least talented and capable, Orioles.

Premium handicapper selections: Baltimore Orioles +170 Bodog

For more information: It's almost getting too easy right about now. Both the 400,000* Suns and 200,000* Braves came through in flying colors last night as I have now cashed the ticket in literally 12 of the last 18 days. The key to this racket is to find the hot handicapper and ride him. Right now "him" is me to a tee. Three more fire hot locks including another 400,000*, this time on the diamond, between Florida and Philadelphia along with a pair of 200,000*, just like Atlanta on Thursday, involving Orlando-Boston and Cleveland-New York.
