Thursday Free Picks

Nurses Day has free picks sports galore. Of course it's the Players Championship in PGA golf, but NBA spread winners abound.

Atlanta Hawks at Orlando Magic – Thursday at 8:00 p.m. ET

The Magic easily covered the spread in Tuesday's 114-71 demolition of Atlanta. It continued an absolutely sensational run by Orlando—the team is a perfect 10-0 in its last 10 games, not to mention a very impressive 9-1 on NBA odds in that span. The Magic haven't been quite as impressive at home, but they've still been pretty damn good, going 7-2-1 in their last 10 games in Orlando.

The Hawks, meanwhile, looked absolutely horrendous. It's a shame, as Atlanta had just picked up back-to-back wins straight up and against the spread for NBA betting fans. The loss drops the team to 6-4 against the spread in its last 10 games. Facing another game in Orlando will be a daunting challenge, especially since the Hawks are just 4-6 against the spread in their last 10 road games.

Orlando looks like it's on a mission—a mission to prove we shouldn't be so quick to hand the East crown to Cleveland. This team is dangerous.

Pick: Orlando

Now to MLB baseball picks and Matt Rivers.

Rivers says go with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Roy Halladay is insanely great and could hurl a shutout against anybody at anytime and should always be a hefty favorite whenever he takes the mound. But with that said to get around $2 back with Pujols alone is too good to pass up. Then throw in Tony LaRussa's overall very good team which is extremely capable with the likes of Holliday, Ludwick and Rasmus and I can't pass up this number.

The Phillies just took the last two games in this series after losing the first and it's asking a lot to beat the Cardinals in three straight no matter who's hurling. Sure Kyle Lohse is no Roy Halladay and the visitors are well behind the eight ball as Howard and Utley and the Fightin Phils are dangerous as heck but this is still getting around $2 with Albert and dare I say enough said.

For more information: Matt Rivers says Atlanta-Orlando is the play. The world saw game one of this series as the Hawks completely embarrassed themselves. A lot of times that results in a much more focused effort in the next game. Is that the case here or are we looking at another lopsided game. I can tell you the outcome won't be by 43 points again. But will it be double digits or could we see a shocker? EZ! One Play, One Lock, period! Click now to purchase Rivers picks.
