Bet on the Oscars, Presidential Election, American Idol and More

The world's largest sportsbooks are actually about more than just sports betting. Odds were posted on the Academy Awards moments after the finalists were announced.

Early odds on American Idol are posted at Bookmaker. Will the 2008 American Idol winner be male or female? This distaff side is a modest favorite at -120. NewBodog, now known as Bodoglife, has odds updated from the Super Tuesday results.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are neck and neck. Clinton is a modest 10/11 favorite, while Obama is 4/5. For the Republicans, John McCain is now an overwhelming 1/20 chalk.

Not only is OffshoreInsiders.com the top source for sports handicapping but remember when we told you not to count out McCain? "Once frontrunner John McCain is now a relative long shot at +450, but Democratic and Republican voters have one major thing in common—they are very fickle. A comeback by the Arizona Senator would surprise few Presidential historians."

We stand by our statement that Hillary Clinton will win the Democratic nomination.

Rounding out the GOP odds are Mitt Romney at 21/2, Mike Huckabee at 15/1 and Ron Paul at 125/1. While we of course admire Paul being pro-choice on gambling rights, he was overmatched on virtually ever other issue sans fundraising ability.

"Paul has a better chance at winning American Idol," jokes sports betting expert Joe Duffy.
