Nets-Heat

New Jersey will play Miami in Round 2. The Heat, which will have home-court advantage, eliminated the Bulls in six games. The Nets trailed, 2-1, in the series before reeling off three straight wins, two on the road. The Pacers played without Peja Stojakovic for the fourth time in the series because of a sore right knee. The team’s second-leading scorer in the regular season, Stojakovic played in Indiana’s two series wins.

Clippers-Suns

The Lakers tried to pound the ball inside on the Suns during all of the first round. The Clippers actually can do it when the teams begin play in the second round, the Clippers’ first appearance there in 30 years. With Elton Brand’s All-Star season and Chris Kaman as a quality 7-foot sidekick, the Suns will have a formidable interior battle for the team that briefly challenged them for the Pacific Division title.

Sporting News

The two teams split their regular season games, and none of them were close. Each team won a game by 10 points, and then each team won another by a bigger blowout—Phoenix took a game at home by 31, and L.A. went to Phoenix and lost by 14.
