Sunday News and Note

Sunday, May 14, 2006

America’s greatest sports service the Dream Team at Godspicks.com makes you a bloody fortune again last night even winning an OT time in the NHL.  We go 6-3 but it includes a Wise Guy sweep on Buffalo +180 in the NHL and dogs San Diego and Minnesota in MLB.  We sweep the NBA with San Antonio and Cleveland.

Our great NBA playoffs in no small part was due to a 9-0 run in the first round, but now we are on our way to beating that as we are on a 4-0 start.  Hop on the money wagon now with both NBA sides, including a Wise Guy. In baseball we have the AL Dandy Dog of the Month among five winners.

The ENTIRE card  is just $17 at www.godspicks.com.  Alternate forms of payment are available. Godspicks is proud to be part of the Handicapper’s Sampler rundown of which sports services are hot and who has the big play at JoeDuffy.net

Suns-Clippers

Daily Breeze

The Suns prevailed in a high-scoring Game 1 even though the Clippers made 58 percent of their shots. The Suns prevailed in a low-scoring Game 3 even though they shot just 37.2 percent from the field. In between, the sixth-seeded Clippers crushed the second-seeded Suns in Phoenix. To even the series, the Clippers will have to shake off their frustration over two tough losses and make the easy shots that they missed on Friday. Dunleavy said the Clippers had double-digit misses around the basket. A check of the play-by-play sheet revealed 10 missed layups.

Heat-Nets

Newark Star Ledger

Being down 2-1 in a series is familiar territory for the Nets. They were here just about two weeks ago.Down by that count to Indiana, the Nets won three straight and took their first-round series. But Shaquille O'Neal is not Jermaine O'Neal and Dwyane Wade is not Anthony Johnson. The Heat are not the undisciplined, enigmatic Pacers. If the Nets lose, the Heat take control and can close out the series Tuesday in South Beach. But the Nets, who went 3-1 against the Heat in the regular season, don't seem worried.

MLB

·        Florida has gone over 16-3 this year to teams making .6 or fewer errors per game

·        Milwaukee has gone under 14-1 last three years at home after allowing nine or more runs

·        San Diego is 9-0 this year +9.4 against teams getting 2.75 or fewer extra base hits per game
