Nets-Heat

NY Times

Jefferson was limping slightly when he walked into American Airlines Arena on Tuesday, and the Nets listed him as doubtful for Game 2 on Wednesday. He wore a medical boot on his right foot and did not practice. Jefferson, who scored 20 points in Game 1, said that his ankle was bothering him, but that he was not in severe pain.

“It’s gotten better,” he said. “It’s just a matter of will it be good enough at 7 o’clock to go do what I normally do. I really want to play. I’ve never missed a playoff game before. I want to keep that going.” Jefferson said the fact that the Nets had gained home-court advantage by winning Game 1 would not factor into his decision.Jefferson’s matchup against Miami’s Antoine Walker could be one of the Nets’ most favorable, and they need him if they are to continue putting pressure on the Heat. The Nets have won four consecutive games against Miami, including the regular season. The Nets are aware that some elements of Game 1 will probably not hold up throughout the series: their 71.4 percent shooting in the first quarter, and 48.6 percent for the game; Heat center Shaquille O’Neal’s foul trouble, which limited him to fewer than 30 minutes; the disappearance of Dwyane Wade, who was scoreless for Miami in the final 12 minutes; and the Heat’s nine first-quarter turnovers, which helped the Nets jump to a 17-point lead

Clippers-Suns

Associated Press

The Suns, averaging 122 points during their current four-game playoff winning streak, try to go up 2-0 on the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night in the Western Conference semifinals. While the Clippers failed to slow the Suns, Phoenix couldn’t handle Brand, either. He made 18 of 22 shots, and most of them weren’t easy ones.
