The Pepperdine men’s basketball team will attempt to break a season-long five-game losing streak. The Waves enter Monday night’s game with a 4-15 overall record and an 0-3 mark in WCC play. Pepperdine is coming off a 71-67 loss to San Diego on Saturday. Pepperdine is 0-3 in WCC play for the first time since 1996 when the Waves opened conference play with four straight losses. San Francisco enters Monday’s game with a 6-11 overall record, including a 2-0 mark in WCC play. The Dons won their second straight overtime game on Saturday as the outlasted Loyola Marymount, 68-61, at Gersten Pavilion. San Francisco is averaging 75.5 points a game while allowing 78.2 points a contest. The Dons have four players scoring in double figures. Monday’s game will mark the 106th meeting between Pepperdine and San Francisco with the Dons holding a 60-45 series lead. The Waves dropped both meetings to San Francisco a year ago, falling 64-57 in Malibu and suffering a 66-63 setback at Memorial Gymnasium. Pepperdine’s last win over the Dons was an 85-68 victory in 2005. Senior guard Jason Walberg is lost for the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury during practice on November 24. Walberg played in five games and averaged 14.0 points and 2.4 rebounds a contest.
Gonzaga-St. Mary’s

Gonzaga University will seek a sweep of its Bay Area swing Monday when the Bulldogs head to Moraga, Calif., to meet Saint Mary’s College. Gonzaga remained one of only two remaining undefeated teams in just the second weekend of West Coast Conference play, the 3-0 Bulldogs taking a 77-69 victory at Santa Clara University on Saturday. Saint Mary’s, 1-1 in the WCC, handed the University of Portland its first WCC seback in three outings with a 73-57 win on Saturday. Gonzaga has won 26 straight West Coast Conference regular-season games and 30 straight over WCC foes counting WCC Tournament play.
Wofford-Furman

The Paladins, 7-9 overall and 1-4 in the SoCon, will look to snap a three-game losing streak. Wofford (5-12) travels to Greenville in search of its first league victory of the season after beginning SoCon play at 0-6. Furman and Wofford battle on the hardwood for the 118th time Monday evening. The Paladins hold a commanding 78-39 lead in the all-time series.
Towson-Illinois Chicago

The Greyhounds step out of MAAC play Monday night for the penultimate non-conference contest of the season, hosting cross-town rival Towson in the 68th installment in the series in a regionally televised game on MASN. Winners of four straight and three consecutive at Reitz Arena, Loyola has not lost during the month of January. The Greyhounds have had to work extra for their last two wins, overtime conference victories at Siena and at home over Niagara. Loyola placed five players in double figures in each game, but Brown has been the focal point. After scoring 33 points for the second time in three games to lead the Greyhounds to the win at Siena, the Baltimore native scored 26 of his game-high 28 points after halftime and connected on the game-winning three-pointer with 20 seconds remaining in overtime Friday against Niagara. Towson comes to Reitz Arena on the heels of a 85-77 loss at Virginia Commonwealth Saturday and has lost four of five and six of eight.
Idaho-Utah State

Utah State is in its 102nd season of basketball and has an overall record of 1,336-971 (.579). Utah State has a nine-game home winning streak and a 119-11 (.915) overall home record under Morrill, which includes a 62-7 (.899) record against conference opponents and a 7-2 record against WAC opponents. Overall, USU has won three straight conference games at home. Utah State is 96-27 (.780) in league games over the last eight years and it has won 44 of its last 57 conference games dating back to the 2002-03 season.
