NBA sportsbook odds (5dimes reviews) will focus on the NBA's All-Star Weekend in Dallas at the new Cowboys Stadium, and in "Jerry's World", you know it will be a big event. Here's a preview of the weekend's three big events.
Three-Point Contest
Miami's Daequan Cook is a +250 favorite to defend his title, but the Heat guard is hitting just 31.7% of his attempts from long range this season. Denver's Chauncey Billups (42.4%) and Golden State rookie Stephen Curry (43.4%) are next at +300, and Curry is especially intriguing after he nailed seven three-pointers in a win over the Clippers in the Warriors' final game before the break. New York's Danilo Gallinari (40.2%) comes in at +400, and Boston's Paul Pierce (44.8%) is next at +450, but the most interesting participant may be Phoenix center Chandler Frye (43.3%) at +500.
Slam Dunk Contest
Charlotte's Gerald Wallace is the sportsbook favorite at -500 to dethrone defending and two-time winner Nate Robinson of New York, who is listed at +200 behind Shannon Brown of the Los Angeles Lakers at +100. On Friday night at the Rookie/Sophomore Game, there will be a "Dunk-in" to see who will fill the final spot, and the participants will be Toronto rookie Demar DeRozan at +600, who has shown some big hops in his first year, and Eric Gordon of the Los Angeles Clippers at +1000. Wallace was known as a high-flyer when he came into the league, and he's rounded out his game to become the Bobcats' first All-Star in NBA history, and he'll be out to show he can still throw down.
NBA All-Star Game
Both teams will be missing players like Kobe Bryant of the Lakers and Allen Iverson of Philadelphia, but there's a slew of players making their first appearances, like Chicago's Derrick Rose and Boston's Rajon Rondo for the East, and Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant and Memphis' Zach Randolph for the West. Cleveland's LeBron James and Miami's Dwyane Wade should run the show for the East, Phoenix's Steve Nash will try to get the West out and running. If you're looking at who the All-Star MVP will be, sports betting players should know that on 15 occasions, a player or players from the host city have been named the MVP, so if Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd of the Mavericks end up having big games, look for them to be in the running, although you'd have to say that James, a two-time All-Star MVP and reigning MVP of the league (and odds-on favorite to repeat), would be the favorite for this award. Take a look at the totals: seven of the last 10 games have gone over 250 points, and the game is famous for its lack of defense, so keep that in mind when making your internet bet.
