Bowl Breakdowns, Part. 5

This is Part-4 where the Center of the Handicapping Universe Joe Duffy’s GodsTips.com breaks down the statistical comparisons of the bowl games. This report entails games of December 30 and 31.

Navy-Boston College

·        Navy gets 57.6 more total yards per game and .5 more yards per play

·        Navy’s biggest edge is rushing yards per game offensively at 217.5, however BC averages 158.5 more passing yards per game

·        Navy averaged 3.3 more passing yards per reception

·        Boston College has an astounding advantage in pass completion rate by 17.6 percent

·        Boston College has the supremacy in every major defensive category including total yards per game by 62.6, yards per play by .8 and passing yards per reception by 2.0

·        BC has a turnover ratio advantage by 14

 

Iowa-Texas

·        Though Texas holds the edge in most offensive categories, they are small amounting to 7.6 total yards per game and .1 yards per play

·        Iowa gets 14.8 more passing yards per game

·        Texas completes 7.3 more percent of their pass attempts

·        Texas allows 4.1 few first downs per game and 48 fewer yards

·        However, Iowa has the edge in the more important yards per play classification by .2 on defense

·        Texas has a turnover margin supremacy of 18

 

Virginia Tech-Georgia

·        The offensive comparisons are close.  Georgia gets 17.1 more total yards per game and .3 more yards per play

·        Tech has the slight edge in passing yards per attempt by .4 and passing yards per reception by .3

·        On defense, V Tech allows 42.9 fewer total yards per game on .5 less rushing yards per attempt and .5 less passing yards per attempt

 

Nevada-Miami FL

·        Nevada gets 4.3 more first downs per game

·        Nevada has an rushing yards per game edge of 54, but Miami squeezes out 5.5 more passing yards per game

·        Nevada completes 3.7 more percent of their passes

·        Miami has the upper hand in most defensive comparisons. They allow 3.5 fewer first downs per game, 75.5 fewer yards, 1.0 fewer yards per play and 70.1 less rushing yards

·        Nevada allows .1 less passing yards per attempt

·        Miami Florida allows a completion rate of  7.6 less

·        Nevada has a turnover ratio supremacy of 13
