The Cougars have won their last five games with C-USA Offensive Player of the Year Kevin Kolb directing the attack and junior running back Anthony Alridge, a star in the making, featured. The defense has struggled at times but has allowed just 53 second-half points in the wins. The Golden Eagles won their last four games to clinch the C-USA East Division, and they did it with defense. The Golden Eagles allow just 18.2 points and 304 total yards per game. Cornell, after dropping two losses that were decided by a total of three points, with the most recent defeat coming against Hartford on Tuesday night in Newman Arena by a score of 63-61. While the Keydets are looking to snap a two-game skid of their own, they have been putting up 101.4 points per game. Due to the long road trip to Virginia, Cornell (3-3) had just one practice in which to recover from its loss against Hartford and get ready to face VMI (3-5). The Gamecocks enter the contest with the Tribe at 1-3 on the season, falling in their most recent contest, 100-69, to UMass on Nov. 25. Jacksonville State notched its lone victory of the season over Reinhardt, 95-72, on Nov. 21. The other two losses for the Gamecocks came at the hands of Wofford (82-80) and New Orleans (66-54). JSU opened the season at New Orleans, but have played its last three contests at home. The Tribe has held each of its first three opponents below 37 percent shooting from the floor. The College held Kansas State to 30 percent (24-of-80) shooting. W&M followed that performance by holding Wagner to 32.7 percent (17-of-52) and Holy Cross to 36.7 percent (22-of-60). It marks the best defensive three-game stretch for the Tribe since the 1999-2000 season. The Tribe held The Citadel (32 percent (16-of-50) on Dec. 2), UNC Wilmington (35.5 percent (18-of-53) on Dec. 6) and American (31.8 percent (14-of-44) on Dec. 9) below the mark during the campaign. W&M has also kept its opponents at bay from beyond the 3-point arc. The College leads the CAA in 3-point field goal percentage defense as of Nov. 27. W&M is holding opponents to 28.3 percent shooting from 3-point range. The Tribe also rank second in field goal percentage defense. The Tribe has held opponents to 38.1 percent from the floor.

Marquette’s run of six straight Blue & Gold Classic championships came to an end last season. The eighth-ranked Golden Eagles (7-0) look to get back on track in their own tournament Friday when they open against Northwestern State (4-2) at the Bradley Center. Marquette coach Tom Crean was 13-0 in Blue & Gold Classic play before his team was upset 71-64 by Winthrop in last year’s championship game.

Elon enters the game with a record of 1-4 after falling to Virginia Commonwealth 91-49 on Tuesday night. It was Elon’s first loss at home in the 2006 calender year. Elon was without its leading scorer in senior guard LeVonn Jordan who sat out due to lingering symptoms from a concussion. Davidson is coming off a 75-47 loss to 9th-ranked Duke on Saturday. MasterLockLine.com has the top plays from the top sports service in their highest ranked sports.   Jason Richards led the Wildcats with 17 points while Andrew Lovedale added nine points along with 10 rebounds. Davidson shot 28.6 percent from the floor and 15.8 percent from long range. The Wildcats post a record of 4-2 coming into tonight’s match up. Davidson opened the season at the John Thompson Foundation Challenge, picking up wins over Eastern Michigan and Central Connecticut State while falling to Michigan State. Davidson also has wins of Illinois-Chicago and Colby along with a loss to Missouri.
