Free Pick: Penn State Vs. Wisconsin

As 112-year-old Betty White and the Screen Actors Guild hand out their SAG Awards to the delight of entertainment props fans, sports bettors are focusing on the NFL odds between the Vikings-Saints and Jets-Colts.

Now superstar sports handicapper Matt Rivers has Penn State plus the points at Wisconsin.

The home loss to Indiana as the 10 point chalk the other day was certainly inexcusable by the Nittany Lions. It definitely does prove that Ed DeChellis' team is far from being good but in a game where points will be at a premium how can you not scoop up such a number?

Wisconsin is far from an offensive powerhouse and without Jon Leuer are lacking a ton. Bo Ryan certainly will have his guys clamp down with the defense as always and we may be hard pressed to even break 50 points but even in that scenario we could see 56-49 which is perfectly fine with me. Talor Battle will get his and in a total ugly grind it out affair that could be enough.

Wiscy is 15-4 overall and a top notch program but they are also as offensively challenged as ever. Their last five games have produced scores of 54,51,60,73 and 47 points. It is a lot tougher for the Badgers to cover a dozen points in a game with a total of about 115 than for more of an up and up type of a team in a faster paced game.

Transition may be an unknown term today and in a plodding slower and slower game the points will be worth their weight in gold. Look for Penn State to just hang around and do enough to grab that cash in the end.
