Bodog summerizes the Hope for Haiti Telethone with Justin Timeberlake getting top reviews.
The stars came together tonight to offer hope and relief for the victims of the tragic earthquake in Haiti. Hosted by George Clooney, more than one hundred stars including Tim Robbins, Ben Affleck, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, and Jewel answered the phones in this telethon-style fundraiser to try to raise money. One in three children die before the age of five in Haiti. And now, the earthquake, which rocked the Carribbean nation more than a week ago, has claimed the lives of at least 200,000 people.
Wyclef Jean told of his journey to Haiti last week: “To tell you the truth, I’m not no news reporter, so I was not there to take the news. I was looking at my country go through so much trauma. I was there to clear away concrete and pull my friends from the rubble.”
After Anderson Cooper showed scenes of orphaned Haitian children, John Legend played the haunting song, “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child.”
Justin Timberlake and Matt Morris sang Hallelujah, Taylor Swift sang “Breathless,” Beyonce sang a beautiful rendition of “Halo” and Madonna sang “Like a Prayer.”
Former President Bill Clinton said, “I’m very grateful that our Clinton/Bush Haiti fund will be one of the recipients of the fundraiser tonight. Through our fund, we’ll focus on helping the Haitian people build back a stronger nation.”
