While most are waiting for March Madness odds, the NBA is heading into its stretch run. One team that will be watching March Madness will be New York, who should be in line for a top-five pick as they attempt to rebuild their franchise through the draft and a ton of cleared cap space. The Knicks will head out on the road for five games starting on Wednesday, when they face San Antonio.
Knicks vs Spurs odds – Wednesday, March 10, 8:30 PM ET
The Knicks (22-41) avoided a three-game winning streak with a 99-98 win over Atlanta at home on Monday, and they would be in much better shape if they could just play the Hawks over and over as they've beaten them three times this year. Danilo Gallinari led the way with 27 points, while David Lee added 19 points and 13 boards for the Knicks, who shot 50.6% from the field, and they nailed 10 of their 15 three-point attempts. The Knicks were outrebounded 13-4 on the offensive glass and they committed 16 turnovers, but for some reason, they just have the Hawks' number, and we're betting management on the Knicks were hoping that Atlanta star Joe Johnson was getting a good look at the New York squad as they figure to go after him this summer.
The Spurs (36-25) fell just short in a 97-95 loss in Cleveland on Monday as they were missing Tony Parker, and the Cavaliers were without LeBron James. In Parker's absence (due to a broken hand), Manu Ginobili had 38 points, seven rebounds and five assists to pace the Spurs, while George Hill chipped in with 23 points for the Spurs, who shot 41.7% from the field and made just 15 of their 22 free-throw attempts.
The Spurs will definitely be favored at home in this contest, as the Knicks are 8-20 on the road this year. New York has dropped six in a row in San Antonio, and eight of their last overall against the Spurs. The first meeting of the season between these two ended in a 95-88 win for the Spurs in New York on December 27th, and Parker scored 22 points to lead San Antonio. Lee had 28 points and 10 boards to lead the Knicks, who were 2-of-16 from beyond the arc. The Knicks love to hoist up the three-point shot, but the problem is that they're hitting just 33.8% from beyond the arc. You won't get away with doing that to the Spurs, especially in San Antonio. Also, the Spurs are averaging 103.6 points at home, and the Knicks are 7-34 when the opposition scores 100 points or more. That's not a good recipe for New York.
NBA betting pick: San Antonio
