Before the NFL playoffs Cowboys-Vikings, Jets-Charges kick off; a tremendous Big East battle takes place when Georgetown plays at Villanova. Well known basketball handicapper Matt Rivers has Villanova minus the points. They are laying 5.5 at SportsBook
It’s tough to lay a half a dozen or so in a rivalry situation such as this but the Wildcats are really becoming an elite college basketball team and should be the right side today. Scottie Reynolds is a superstar and Jay Wright has a team that may be his best yet and that is saying a ton. The Wildcats are once again very deep and athletic and can pretty much do it all including win the NCAA tournament if things fall their way.
Georgetown at times shows glimpses of being an upper echelon squad but they are still a bit too inconsistent as we saw last weekend against UCONN. The Hoyas were awful in the first half falling behind at home by about 20 to the Huskies only to look great in the second half and storm back for the win.
Georgetown is now 13-2 after just outclassing Seton Hall and has a big man in Greg Monroe who is an instant mismatch. I’m not going to say that the Hoyas don’t scare me a little because they do but the road is never easy and especially not against a team as good as Villanova.
I expect Georgetown to come into this thing fired up and ready to play but in the end the ‘Cats are too good and too deep and pretty much too everything. Wright’s team should be able to push the pace like they just did at Louisville and control this thing in a win and cover.
81-71 Villanova is my prediction.
