Matt Rivers March Madness Picks

Matt Rivers has a free sports pick on UAB at home. They are laying 2.5 at SportsBook

The UAB Blazers are always very very solid at home and even though the Memphis Tigers are still a talented team we are not looking at the same Memphis Tigers under John Calipari as the three conference losses this season indicate.

Josh Pastner has done a decent job with the team but let's face it, after Coach Cal left the program was destined to drop a few notches and they have. Memphis would always roll through the conference undefeated with ease and right now are a shell of what they used to be. Certainly 21-8 is very good and 11-3 in what is a decent Conference USA is far from being bad but these guys are just not what they used to be and it should show one more time as the Blazers at home are too good. Even in that last game at home Memphis was not able to put away a bad Southern Miss. team in the seven-point victory.

The days of Ronell and Donell along with Robert Vaden are now long gone but Mike Davis has found a nice little home in Birmingham and the Blazers have rewarded him by winning. UAB is not the deepest of teams but Elijah Millsap is a tough guy to guard no matter who you are and Crawford and Sanders are really solid as well.

UAB has won four in a row, has a solid resume that includes wins over Butler, Cincinnati and Houston among others and just should not lose this game at home, period.

The pick: Alabama-Birmingham -2.5 at BetUs
