CBB

ILLINOIS STATE +2 Indiana State

The Sycamores may be without the services of Jay Tunnell, a 6-foot-8 sophomore center who sprained his ankle in practice Monday. Coach Royce Waltman said Tunnell, who did not practice Tuesday, is questionable for tonight.

Having started all 25 games so far, Tunnell is averaging 9.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest.

Waltman told the Tribune-Star on Tuesday that he’ll probably start sophomore Adam Arnold and freshman Norman Wells on the frontline with regular starter Trent Wurtz against
Illinois State. This is a huge drop off.  We can’t see him 100 percent regardless. The small dogs will have revenge on their mind against a struggling team.  We like that combo. These ISUs have squared off once already this season, with the Sycamores winning 54-50 Jan. 6 at Normal. Tunnell was Indiana State’s only double-figure scorer that night, posting 13 points in what has been the Sycamores’ only MVC road victory of 2006-07.

“We were in the middle of winning a lot of games back then,” Waltman said, “and it seemed like we found ways to pull out close games.”

The Sycamores have not been pulling out close wins lately. They’ve dropped nine of their last 10 games.
