Scores and Odds: Kent State Will Finish 3rd In MAC East

The 2010 Kent State preview is next in line for today's run of college football previews. The Golden Flashes finished 5-7 (4-4) in 2009, and head coach Doug Martin could be on the hot seat.

Kent State gets a tremendous boost in the form of running back Eugene Jarvis. Jarvis was granted a sixth year of eligibility after missing last season with a kidney injury. He's a real weapon, as he racked up 1,669 yards and 13 total touchdowns in 2008. If the line settles and second-year pivot Spencer Keith makes some strides, the offense could be pretty solid.

The "D" should be even better. Seven starters return, a few of whom have all-conference potential. Safety Brian Lainhart had seven interceptions last season and will be vying for Defensive Player of the Year honors. Coupled with a few of the team's solid linebackers, this should be a playmaking unit.
