Temple Owls Win the MAC Conference East Division in College Football

Give a hoot! Could this be the year of the once laughingstock Temple Owls? An elite sportsbook says yes.

The fantastic Bodog football preview continues with our Mid-American Conference overview. Temple looks like the favorite to bring home the 2010 MAC title.

The Owls started 7-0 in conference play last season before running back Bernard Pierce went down with a knee injury. Pierce missed the Ohio game, which Temple promptly lost—costing it a shot at the MAC Championship. The team returns 16 starters this season and has a great chance to set things right in 2010.

Ohio toppled the Owls en route to their second MAC title in four seasons. The team must adjust to a new name under center—junior Phil Bates takes over after transferring from Iowa state—but the Bobcats deserve the same respect any defending champ would.

Kent State could be the sleeper of the mix. The Golden Flashes have 15 starters back this fall, and they get a shot at both Ohio and Temple at home.
