NBA Expert: Thunder Rumbles Sportsbooks Against Lakers

ESPN bowl games coverage continues tonight with the BYU-Oregon State spread in the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl.  However, star sports handicapper Matt Rivers continues to prosper in basketball betting.

He says to go with Oklahoma City plus the 9.5 points against the LA Lakers. Here is his analysis:

I’m buying Kevin Durant and the Thunder today at Staples. I really like this spot for the visitors with the points as the Lakers are finally back home after the five game roadie, which is never easy to begin with, and then next will host LeBron and the Cavs in a big game on Christmas day. This is the perfect spot for Kobe and that injured finger to take a bit of a sigh of relief and play with their guard down.

Okie City is really in the process of building a good thing. Durant is becoming a superstar and other talented players like Russell Westbrook, Jeff Green and James Harden are no joke. Scotty Brooks has this team at .500 and the young Thunder will compete tonight even if the Lakers have been rolling, winners of 15 of their last 16 games.

City is 6-6 on the road which happens to be the best road mark in the division, including teams like Denver, Portland and Utah. Sure they have lost four of five but when you play top notch squads like the Nuggets, Mavs and Cavs you should lose. I expect them to lose here as well but the number is too much to not grab in this spot.

Any team off of a three plus game road trip, ala Phil Jackson’s Lakers today, seems to struggle in that first game back. When you factor that in plus the Christmas day game to come I can’t help but believe that the up and coming Thunder are the clear right side today.

The pick: Oklahoma City +9.5 at Bodog.

For more information: I love this bowl game and that is my lower rated play of the day which should tell you something. I have an insanely undervalued pup in NCAAB. Click now to purchase Matt Rivers winner.
