The Hornets have just eight healthy scholarship players, a freshman point guard with no true backup and a 2-6 record that suggests confidence might be tough to find.
It's a game in which Oregon almost can't help but blow out Sac State. Freshman Vinnie McGhee Jr. is the only point guard still healthy after injuries to senior Roderick Adams (ankle) and sophomores Alonzo Young (knee tendinitis) and Yannick Kasongo (torn anterior cruciate knee ligament).
Young and Kasongo are expected to miss the rest of the season. Adams, could, too, depending on the results of an MRI. Senior center Curtis Harrison (broken hand) also is out for the season.
With so many injuries, the Hornets have decided not to redshirt 6-foot-7 sophomore forward-center Wandji Aboubakar, who is recovering from a knee injury and is not yet at full strength.
